The 6th Bead Soup Blog Party - First Reveal

Yes!!! The day has finally arrived and we can start the fun and the "Hopping" through all the blogs and experience the wonderful designs.

Lori Anderson from Pretty Things is our wonderful host and this is the 6th Soup and she has gathered ( and please be amazed to read this) "400 designers" wow , ok I can't believe it, so let's go again: "400 DESIGNERS". For the amount of entries, the Blog Party has been divided into 3 reveals, this being the first with ( if I counted right) 130 participants, and I'm one of them!

I'm really excited because this is my first soup, and I've been waiting for it!.

I was partnered with the lovely Jessica Klaaren, a great designer, with whom I discovered I have many things in common. Click here to read the post I made about her and the soup she sent me

So let's get started!

Taste my Soup

Yes I know what you are thinking.... What a delicious soup!.

When Jessica sent me the soup she didn't imagine how much I would love it, specially because is " Sea themed" and do I have to mention... I love purple!. For the many of you who don't know me, Welcome to my blog and thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. I'm from the coast, to be more exact from Lima the capital of Perú, and something I miss (specially now that I live in Utah) is the the Beach, the many walks I used to take, the reflection of the sun on the ocean and how the sand felt on my feet, oh so many memories...

My mind started rolling with all the moments, thinking of how being by the ocean made me feel, and drawings came along, the drawings became a solid idea and the idea a finished design. That's how " Mar y Arena" (Sand and Sea) came to live: by the love I feel for the Ocean, my beloved Lima and the fruits of it's sea.

Mar y Arena

I held a sea shell to my ear,
And listened to its tale
Of vessels bounding o'er the main
And all the ships that sail.

It sang of brilliant water flowers
The bright anemones
That bloom beneath the ocean waves—
Tossed in from seven seas.

Each time I harken to this song,
I hear the breakers moan,
And fancy that a warning bell
Rings from a lighthouse lone.

No longer need I wish to go
Where foam-capped billows swell,
For I've an ocean of my own
Withing this pearly shell

"Song of a Shell" - poem by Violet L. Cuslidge

So here it was my creation " Mar y Arena" sand and sea...

To the already beautiful clay focal by Clay works I added tiny brass flowers with purple crystals, and the focal is attached to the rest of the necklace with a ring with the words " Mar y Arena" and with hanging tiny purple shells I collected in Perú during my last trip. One side of the necklace has a gypsy beaded chain with the Biwa pearls, some wood Jasper and jade green crystals and I my very own Polymer clay Sea horse charm in purple and a Vintaj Nouveau toggle clasp.

The other side of the necklace has beautiful two glass beads by Lisa Anderson and two blue hammered and painted rings on each end tied with the lavander silk cord, and in the middle the purple and blue pearls are tied with a matching purple Sari silk ribbon follow by the brass chains.

I hope you enjoyed my post and my design, here is a peak of what I sent Jessica, my hand sculpted Blue bird clay pendant, I will soon be opening a new store just for components :)

Have a taste of my soup and meet the cook

Hola to all of you! Is so nice to be able to write again, I have been so busy being a mommy and at shows and is great!, and I'm grateful for all the shows and for all the wonderful people I get to meet.

So let's talk about Lori Anderson's 6th Bead Soup Blog Party! . This wonderful artist has been hosting this parties for a while and everybody loves them!!!! This is my first soup and I'm (of course) very excited, you can read all about the blog party here:

So guess when is my reveal date? The first reveal on July 28th! And I have been partnered with an awesome designer, so who is it? ( drum roll please) ...

Meet Jessica Klaaren - Jewelry designer and the cook of my soup

Jessica is 31 years old, married and the proud mommy of 2 boys: a 4 and 8 years old.

She has been making jewelry for about 6 and I'm happy to say that she had her first magazine publications this year in Bead Trends magazine.

She told me and I quote: " I love vintaj natural brass and use it more than any other material in my jewelry designs, although I do sometimes stick to beading or use silver, polymer clay, etc. I have never had a jewelry class and everything I do was learned through trial and error." Wow, isn't she awesome? . When I read this I realize we have so much in commun, I never took a jewelry class either and oh my goodness I'm always learning from my mistakes, who doesn't?

Jessica is a very versatil designer she works with many mediums and recently she started incorporating fibers into her work. Her favorite colors to work with are: blue, green, and purples, but she likes the challenges and would do her magic in any colors.

Here are some of her designs:

All are lovely!
